Working as the sole legal counsel for an organization with over 100 employees that creates and executes communication strategies for 40+ campaigns each year, the VP, Legal and Business Affairs plays a key role in executing the mission of the Ad Council.
In a given week, you may find yourself reviewing and negotiating contracts with ad agencies, clients and vendors, reviewing talent releases, preparing for board committee meetings, obtaining state sales tax exemptions, pricing new services in close collaboration with the CFO, determining which Federal Acquisition Regulations should apply to our federal contracts, and reaching out to music houses to license songs for our commercials.
This position is perfect for someone who likes to start with strategy and desired outcomes first and then likes to find the legal approach or solution next. You can successfully work on multiple projects at once, you like to make life easier for colleagues by improving processes and, you can effectively communicate legal requirements to colleagues at all levels. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VP, Legal and Business Affairs reports to the Head of Business Operations and Strategy and works with members of all departments, but primarily the Finance, Marketing and Communications and Campaign Development teams.
A private, non-profit organization, the Ad Council partners with other national non-profit organizations as well as federal government agencies to motivate measurable change around significant public issues. Together, we work with volunteer talent from leading advertising, media, social and digital communications agencies across the country to create campaigns that inspire change and improve lives throughout the U.S.
The Ad Council creates sophisticated and comprehensive integrated communication plans for each campaign that can include media outreach, consumer research, public relations, and numerous strategic partnership opportunities across all mediums.
